Research done over a year with a good number of participants shows that resistance training is better for improving sleep quality and duration than either aerobic exercise or the two combined.
I see more and more evidence these days that resistance training has been unjustly made less important than aerobic cardio training. This is just one of many such studies showing that the body adapts in many beneficial ways to 'controlled stress' on the muscles.
Also this study is typical on how beneficial resistance training (mixed with aerobic in this case) is for improved cognition and reducing the chance of mental decline as we age.
